There are few happy rescue stories for dogs in Cyprus
Its about degrees of sadness and neglect .The hunting on the island means many beautiful dogs are treated like trash .neglected, starved in the misconception it will make them better hunting dogs
Often abused physically, terrorised mentally , Reuben sadly is a classic example of just this

Found in Lefkara village , terrified, emaciated , his hip bones visibly showing
He was so skittish and on his wits when he was rescued

Once at the shelter , he was allowed to decompress in a safe place, small meals gradually to build him up under vets instructions.What hes been through , we dont want to imagine

Reuben is likely a hunting dog that wasn't performing . We've discovered just what a gentle , sweet and kind boy he is , hunting is not in his nature
So he was discarded, in the mountains , in the hope he would perish
Somehow , this tired skinny boy made his way down into the village , such resilience when he must have felt terrible

Reuben is settling well into shelter life .His personality is of a shy nature but ever so kind and gentle too
Hes inquisitive and shy with children but friendly
Always sweet and loving with the other shelter dogs
Not cat tested

He is naturally wary of new people at first but he manages to be brave ! Comes in for a sniff and fuss
He trusts and adores his rescuer so with time and patience Reuben can learn to trust

He wants affection , loves kisses and cuddles regardless of the terrible things that have happened to him
Dogs are incredible to continue to trust humans even after they do horrible things 😢

Reuben would be best to share his home with another dog or two to help him settle and learn from others
He could live in a home with older children 12 yrs plus

He has alot of learning to do ! But hes ever keen to please , very bright ! And eager to learn
